Dog Owners Learn Law’s Bark Worse Than Bite

A quote at the end of an article from the Lakeland Ledger reads: “Allen Triebe said that the problem with law is that it considers the dogs only as property. “And that’s wrong.”"

Bullshit.  Pets are property, and that’s that.

I’m amazed at people who think pets are something more than animals we have to control.  Sure, they’re parts of our families, good friends when treated right, but they don’t act this way rationally.  Animals are reactionary creatures, and how we control them dictates how they act.

Would you tell your child to go up to a stray dog and pet it?  No, of course not.  You don’t know that dog, you don’t have control over that dog, and you don’t know how that dog will react to human presence.  You should aviod the dog, don’t provoke it to react in an aggresive manner, and move away from it.  That stray could literally kill you.

So what’s with people who think that all pets are “people, too”?  They have to be off their gourd.

If pets aren’t property, then what are they: sentient beings to be treated on the same level as humans?  No fucking way.  When you take a pet into your home, you are taking responsibility for how it behaves.  If you don’t train it well, then it’s your fault if it bites or scratches or injures someone else in any way.  After all, biting and scratching is what they do; it’s up to you to make them NOT do that.

So all you pet freaks out there who want animal rights on par with human rights, you need to really think things through.  Pets aren’t people, they don’t think like us, and those puppydog eyes are just eyes… any meaning you read into those eyes is in your head.

Love your pets, control your pets, own your pets.  They’re your property!
