Man Sentenced in Prostitution Case
A Plant City man was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of supervised release for owning and operating houses of prostitution, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
Jose Rodriguez, 57, pleaded guilty May 17 to conspiring to persuade and entice people to travel in interstate commerce in order to facilitate the crime of prostitution.
Rodriguez was one of 11 people arrested by federal authorities in October 2005 on charges of recruiting women, many of whom were illegal immigrants from Mexico, to work as prostitutes, and moving them around different houses in Polk, Orange and Hillsborough counties.
Do they realize they make the conditions worse for these women by criminalizing prostitution? Honestly, I want to know if they realize that.
